Birth is about so much more than getting a baby out safely, it is a transformative time for birthing families and the memories of each birth will stay with them forever. At Ahava Doula Services, we do not believe in any one type of birth, we believe that birthing families deserve to be respected, informed and deeply connected to their individual birthing experience. It is not about how your baby is born but how you feel about it. Ahava Doula Services is here to support your individual journey into parenthood throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

Meet Your Doula
Doulahood for Jessie is a multigenerational calling that began with her own mother, a midwife and doula in her own right. At the tender age of seven Jessie found her calling when she witnessed the beauty and awe of her brother’s birth in the bedroom of her parents’ home. The warm memories, feelings of love and interconnectedness linger with her to this day as vividly and bright as the moment her brother entered the world.
In 2011, Jessie graduated from Salem State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work; that was when she moved to Colorado to live her life in the mountains with some friends. While she was exploring the mountains, she was also realizing her passion for working with children and that same year, she began working in a Montessori preschool. She was so passionate about working with children throughout her entire life that a career as a preschool teacher seemed fitting. Within the first year of teaching, she was well on her way to obtaining her license in Early Childhood Education. As a preschool teacher for almost a decade Jessie found she was most fulfilled working with infants and toddlers. It was this time as a preschool teacher that Jessie really developed her understanding of not only infants, but also their family. It became apparent that families in the early months and years needed the most support and care, and Jessie knew she could be a trusted source for that type of support and care.
Jessie realized that her passion and skills intersected fluidly and in 2019 she officially left her preschool career to become a labor and postpartum doula and has been loving this work ever since. Jessie works with the fundamental belief that when given unbiased, evidence-based support, love, compassion and appropriate education, expectant parents and their families will have more meaningful and positive birth and postpartum experiences.
When Jessie is not talking about birth and babies, she is spending time in nature with her bloodhound or spending time with her family and friends. Jessie is an animal lover, has over 75 houseplants and is always up for a weekend camping trip, if she’s not on call that is.
Birth is not only about how your baby is born, birth is about how you feel about the experience. That’s what truly matters
